Sarah Chalke
"Dr. Elliot Reid' of Scrubs was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada in 1976.
Sarah made her debut in acting, in a made-for-TV movie City Boy (1992).
In 1993, after her first film, she auditioned for the role of Becky on the TV
series "Roseanne" (1988). The show was looking for a replacement after
Alicia Goranson quit the show to go to college. Sarah graduated from High
School in 1995, while shooting the 1994-1995 season of "Roseanne" (1988).
Also in 1994, Sarah co-starred in the film Ernest Goes to School (1994) along
with Jim Varney. Then in 1996, she starred in 2 films, including Robin of Lock-
sley (1996) (TV), and also Stand Against Fear (1996) (TV), where she played
a cheerleader, Krista Wilson. At times on the set of "Scrubs" (2001), Sarah is
referred to as "Becky #2" in response to her being the second "Becky" on
"Roseanne" (1988). She has dogs named Harley and Tankers.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make more work for you.
I was just curious. I get at least 3 band requests a day, that I
sort through, and I love all kinds of music, though some of the
80's has me perplexed..lol
Sometimes everybody starts sounding the same.. and it's amazing
when you find someone unique like
Aldo Roxx
or
The Morning Riot
,
or
Idle Ride
...where I'm actually moved to buy a CD or EP.
I'm starting to have a bad attitude with some radio stations after all
the payola stuff...sometimes songs really suck and they pump the heck
out of them..it makes it feel as if it's just big business generating
"so called hits".
Do you get pretty much a free hand to choose your playlists based on
your instinct/mood.. listener request...or do you have a "big brother"
that "strongly suggests"?
OK, I'm off my soap box now..lol Feeling a little Dennis Miller-esque.
'my bad.
Thanks again Jonathan!
Suzi
JONATHAN:
I hear where you are coming from Suzi. I'll answer the last part
first. My shows due to the respect of the powers of the company I work for
towards me, I have complete control of what I play and say on my shows.
I am blessed to have that. Very few do. No one can change what I do, or
otherwise I walk. That's not really a threat, it's reality and they know it. I
am semi-retired and not doing this for the money. So I guess you could say
that I am totally clean and not beholding to anyone. I do what I do. That's it.
Now, as to how I program, as I have stated on my shows many times, it is
a mood-ring. It depends on mood, whatever, when I am actually putting the
individual shows together. I walk around my office which has over 12,000
CD's in alphabetical order, and in catagories, and just have fun. That would
be for the Saturday morning show, where I select music from the past, and
some new music. The Sunday evening show is all new music.
Yes, sometimes much of the new music does begin to sound alike. There is
so much good and bad music, that choosing is not an easy task. As far as
Myspace goes, I generally accept almost every artist/band...and then check
them out at a later time. Why? Because I recieve at least 30 CD's a week from
labels and musicians. So my listening is well tested. The one's I choose from
Myspace do get attention. I can't play them every week, but I do give them as
much exposure as I can over a period of time. Gems like
Aldo Roxx
come
along every once in awhile.
As far as 'regular' radio and the repetitive plays, well, that's radio in general.
They want you the listener to feel the familiarity. Part of it then becomes the
listeners fault. The more they call and request the song, it gets played over
and over. As far as payola goes, I stay away from that subject as much as I
can. I am squaeky clean and will remain so. I can't say that for many in radio,
or on the record label's side. Hope this answers all the parts to your Q?
Suzi, always stay on that soapbox!

I would understand if you do not want to talk about the subject of our

I have done research on this topic and I honestly do not know how I
feel about the "Loose Change" video.
But, I'm all about the "government" issue and I always try to get others
views about our country. So, once again, I would understand if you choose
to dodge this one.
JONATHAN:
Beck, I have not seen the video, so I wouldn't have an answer
that would qualify as intelligent. From what I gather it has something to
do with a 911 conspiracy?
As far as our government goes, the current administration has dug 'us' into
a deep dark hole. I feel bad about our service men and women that have
been used as pawns in an ugly war, that we began and cannot seem to
figure out how to end it. I could on and on, Bush, Cheney, and the others

What are your true feelings about a government
conspiracy behind 9/11?
JONATHAN:
I guess this is an extension of the above question. Last year
I put a link to a film that had to do with a 911 conspiracy on this website.
I forget the title of the short film. It made some good points. I truely cannot
honestly buy into everything about said conspiracy, but I am sure there are
many that do.
Rather than disect this issue, I would rather use my exit strategy and just
blame George Bush Jr. and Sr. for everything.

Hi Jonathan.
Wisdom can't be bought but only
learned through years of lifes experiences.
The most valuable wisdom lesson I have learned is people tend
to set themselves up for failure before anything happens which
in return creates anxiety. I never new I was doing this for many
years and even though I have succeeded in many things the anxiety
was torture.
What would be the most wise lesson you have learned in your time
so far, besides getting married at 18? lol
hugs,
Marie
JONATHAN:
To only speak when spoken to. Always say what's
on my mind, even it means hurting someone's feeling. I learned
a looooong time ago to keep it real.
Keeping in what you really feel and want or wanted to say just
builds up inside, and you are the one that suffers.
Example:
Last week Jeanette went out to pick up some Mexican food.
As she waited on line, right next to her was a huge man and his 8-year
old daughter. He leaned down and said to his little girl "see, look what's
happening to the neighborhood, all these porn stars are moving in".
Jeanette heard it, it was directed at her. She came home and told me
what happened, and was angry.
I said, well first-good thing I wasn't there...but if I had...this is what I
would have said to him..."I'm flattered you think my wife is a porn star
man, she's hot...but I'll tell you what's really wrong with the neighborhood,
it's obese people like you taking up so much space".
Point:
Say what you feel. And by the way, considering we live in such a
highly moralistic society (Thanks George fuckin' W), here is a fat fuck of
father using the word 'porn' to his 8-year old daughter. Some morals, huh?

yes we did stop in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Had a wonderful dinner with
you and my dear friend JJ Fabini.
I hope that you have let go of any ill feelings for not being at that
station anymore. Hence the question maybe?
Okay, so here is how I feel about the Midwest in general. I wouldn't
live there, but I liked some of the places we saw. Now Ft. Wayne,
which is a small city wasn't bad at all. Truthfully. On the other hand,
that other city in Indiana, the big one, Indianapolis is huge bowl of
swirling shit. What a messed up place that was. In comparison, the
quaint small city of Ft. Wayne was golden.

Marlee Beth Matlin was born in Morton Grove, Illinois in 1965, to Don and Libby
Matlin; she was their third child. Marlee became deaf at the age of 18 months
due to a bout with Roseola Infantum. That didn't stop her, though, from acting
in a children's theatre company at age 7; she was Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz."
Her deafness never held her back. As an adult she said it so eloquently: "I have
always resisted putting limitations on myself, both professionally and personally."
Marlee studied Criminal Justice at Harper College in Palatine, Illinois, and main-
tained her passion for acting after graduating. While performing on stage through-
out Chicago and the Midwest, Marlee attracted notice for her performance in a pro-
duction of the Tony award-winning play "Children of a Lesser God" and was cast in
the movie version in 1986. Husband is a police officer. Has one daughter named

Probably doing drugs when I was much younger. But I think
that's something many of us do and go through. The trick is to stop, and
get on with life. It's sad to see numerous aquantances and some friends
still going back and forth to rehab centers. Or in some cases worse.
Ok, the worst thing I ever did was when I was 16, the day I quit school.
On my way out I had an altercation with a teacher who said something
to me with a smirk. I went home (a block away from school), and then
went back about an hour later and jumped him in the hallway with an
ice pick and a length of chain. I missed his heart by inches with the pick
after knocking him down with the chain. It took two other teachers to
get me off him. I was arrested 3 days later and began a two year period
of court, incarceration and finally 6 years of parole/probation. There were
other offenses after that, which I won't go into now.
I inherited a nasty temper from my father. As I grew up, my temper is

now, my kids are superfans. To the point that next month, I've been
asked to make a "
Ramones
" Birthday cake for two of my children!!
How did he (
Joey
) touch or change your life?
JONATHAN:
Shawn, I think we touched each others, because we both
had cancer.
I first saw the
Ramones
in the late 70s on visits back to New York to my
mother (R.I.P.). When I began in radio in 1982, I played the shit out of
the
Ramones
. Joey was the main person who did interviews with radio,
except
Dee Dee
who did some, but more for himself when he put out his
first solo recording as
Dee Dee King
.
Joey and I started out as the typical radio/musician relationship. Into the
90s I did more radio interviews with Joey and always did stage announce-
ments at their shows. I hung out backstage many times. That would be
the normal relationship.
In 1996, as most that know me, I was diagnosed with bladder cancer. I was
walking dead. Thanks to a turn of events I was saved by the world reknown
Dr. Donald Skinner
at the USC Norris Cancer Center in Los Angeles. Joey had
heard about it and called me after I began the recovery process. From that
moment on our relationship turned to a kinship that only people with cancer
can understand. Keep in mind I was not in radio at that time. I was working
for
The Album Network
, a music industry trade magazine. He devulged to
me that he had bone marrow cancer. He trusted me enough to tell me that.
I can assure you that other than his immediate family, and maybe Monte,
their manager, very few people knew why Joey was constantly sick during
their long two year goodbye tour.
The often phone calls, playing me music with his guitar over the phone, the
often e-mails, and my visit to his apartment in New York City for an hour,
are moments that I cherish, and will for the rest of my life.
Jeffrey Hyman
might have been

is what touched me the most.

As for it being done by a man or a woman, wouldn't matter, so long as I

his long time girlfriend Jean. He would come over to my old condo in
Hollywood. My wife Jeanette, Jean, Charles and I went to see
Billy
Bragg
together, He drove his big old classic yellow Caddillac. We spoke
on the the telephone fairly often. He would come to my office in Burbank,
and sometimes we would go to a dive diner called ironically 'Franks'.
He came on last minute notice to help me with a demo I did for
KROQ
at a recording studio, as my special guest. He called one day and asked
me if I would go with him to
Largo
in Hollywood to see our old friend
Stan Ridgeway
(Wall Of Voodoo) perform. I said yes, and he came to my
house in Los Feliz and picked me up, and off we went.
We still speak every so often on the phone, so this is a REAL friendship.
Very rare. When you have their cell and home number and they yours,
then you know it's for real. He now lives in Oregon by the way.

Okey Jonathan I love this !!
Do you celebrate your marrige anniversary ^^?
If yes how do you celebrate it ?
JONATHAN:
Finally, another non-musical question. Well Lamia, we do.
Nothing fancy. Usually a nice dinner either out, or take in, and a passion
filled evening of sex. We aren't the type to go out of town, we can do
that most any time. Just a special evening together. Of course I get her
flowers (which I do often anyway), she loves flowers, and a card means
an awful lot to her. Again, buying jewelry and other gifts don't really
mean much to Jeanette. It's those cards and flowers that brings happy
tears to her eyes every time.

If you could hang out with a famous musician for
24 hours, who would it be and why?
JONATHAN:
I've hung out with many, but for 24 hours, it would have
to be
Madonna
. I would just stare at her for 24 hours.-LOL
I actually do like her, and find her a very interesting person.

Just gotta know - Is your son single ?
JONATHAN:
Yes, my eldest Russell (who is on my Myspace

not. One daughter is, and one is not.
JONATHAN:
May I ask you a question?
Why do you hide behind a photo that is not you? Just curious.
STOOPID
A bit paranoid I guess - I have an ex I have to hide from,
for my safety.
I hate it that I can't live normally like most of the world. I must say, I'm
surprised you have time to answer e-mail so promptly, being a famous
personality - that's cool of you.
JONATHAN:
I don't know about the famous part, but I feel sorry for you,
that you can't be yourself due to some drama in your life.

Steph, I know you are kidding, but I would love to answer this. You
see, in a world where communication is key, I pleasantly annoying all of you so
I can have a page like this on my website. I enjoy seeing what all of you think on
questions that are sometimes simple, and sometimes 'deeper'. I also believe that
you, the readers are interested to see what your peers think. I would like to think
that I am nuturing some real friendships that go beyond the typical "myspace
friends".
I am also reaching out to an international audience that hopefully will listen to my
radio shows once KUPD-FM begins streaming on the internet, which is finally just
around the corner. So, I expect you will be hopefully listening when that happens.

Ask you anything?? Good grief, man,
you ARE brave...lol.
Ok, since you and I, as well as many others, are music junkies,
my question is this:
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST DISAPPOINTING TREND IN MUSIC YOU HAVE
EXPERIENCED IN THE LAST TEN YEARS?
(Food for thought, JL and I'd be curious to hear what others have to
say too, before I tell you my response ;)
JONATHAN:
Diva, if we look at the last ten years only-1996-2006, than it
would have to be the death knell of something that myself and a small hand-
ful of persons developed, struggled, enjoyed, and finally achieved. A radio
format known as 'alternative' radio. 'Alternative ' radio was meant to be music
that was different, and more inspiring than the normal fare of radio music. Plus,
it was a lifestyle.
From 1982 to 1989 I was one of the spearheads and pioneer of 'that' format. In
1989 we finally achieved our goal. Recognition from the music industry. From
1989 to 1994 it was a glorious and refreshing time period. In 1994 anyone that
was involved could feel the air of change coming.
Precisely in 1996, ten years ago is when 'alternative' became a BRAND. A watered
down, heavily formatted boring drag. The same happened in 1979 to 1989. It was
a format that tasted success. The original lifestyle of 'alternative' became a mass
consumed acceptable and viable source for financial reasons and lost site of it's
roots. Over a hundred radio stations that were primarliy the same, with the ex-
ception of a few that dearly held on to it's original roots. The original format by
the way, was 11 stations in 1989. We felt special
;-)
So the 'trend' I would say would be the demise of an original radio format. Today
it is a mere shell of itself. I guess as far as other trends go also I would say the
'Boy Band' era. Ugh.-lol

Whats the first record you ever bought????
I'm interested to know this as I wanna see where you came
from musically.
JONATHAN:
Okay Sarah, wanna really know. I was eleven years old in 1957
and went to a store called Woolworth's in Levittown, Long Island, New York,
and for, I think it was 29 cents, bought a single that was on the WMCA "Good
Guys" Top 21 playlist which was posted each week in their record section. The
following is information from
www.allmusic.com
about that 45 RPM single.
Simon & Garfunkel's
recording history actually predated their first mid-'60s hit
by almost a decade. Childhood friends while growing up together in Forest Hills,
NY, they began making records in 1957, performing (and often writing their own
material) in something of a juvenile Everly Brothers style. Calling themselves
Tom & Jerry
, their first single,
"Hey Schoolgirl,"
actually made the Top 50, but
a series of follow-ups went nowhere. The duo split up, and Simon continued to
struggle to make it in the music business as a songwriter and occasional per-
former, sometimes using the names of Jerry Landis or Tico & the Triumphs.
The funny thing is that I don't really know how that shaped my musical
taste, but you asked, and there it is.
