DANA SAYS: I consider myself a "picky" shopper. When
shopping for others, I try and keep in mind what they would
like for themselves, but won't spend the money on it, and
make a purchase based on that.

For me, if it is creative or expressive in my tastes and
interests, I will purchase it.

For some reason, this year, I've had it with the crowds and
consumerism, that I'm trying to purchase items where a portion
of the proceeds go to charity.

My wrapping paper is from the red campaign and helps benefit
people with aids in Africa.

   Alyssa Milano
Alyssa is the daughter of Italian-American parents Lin, a fashion designer, and Tom, a
film music editor. Alyssa was born in a working class neighborhood in Brooklyn in 1972,
and grew up in a modest house on Staten Island. One day, her babysitter, who was an
aspiring dancer, dragged Alyssa along to a an open audtion for the first national tour of
Annie. But it was Alyssa, not the sitter, who beat out 1,500 other wanna be stage act-
resses to snag a role. So at the tender age of seven, with her mother in tow, Alyssa join-
ed the tour as July, one of the orphans. After 18 months on the road, Alyssa, who had
begun to garner a reputation as an energetic and charismatic young actress, left Annie
to be featured in off-Broadway productions and television commercials. Then, in 1983 at
age 10, she landed her breakthrough role on the new sitcom "Who's the Boss?" (1984)
as Tony Danza's saccharine sweet daughter, Samantha Micelli, a kid whose native Brook-
lyn accent rivaled her TV dad's. In order for her to accept the gig, the Milano family had to
uproot and move 3,000 miles to Hollywood. Had a best-selling excercise video in 1988 call-
ed Teen Steam. She's the 1-800-COLLECT girl.
Caused a stir with her TV Commercial for
Candies perfume, which featured a black-lingerie clad Alyssa and a goateed man. The "Any-
where You Dare" campaign was rejected by such stations as WB and FOX in 2000. Voted #4
in FHM's 100 Sexiest Women list (2001). Voted #4 in FHM's 100 Sexiest Women list in 2003.
Had 5 albums released in Japan which all went platinum. These were titled Alyssa, Look In
My Heart, Best in the world, Locked In a Dream, and Do You See Me? Named #22 in FHM ma-
gazine's "100 Sexiest Women in the World 2006" supplement (2006). She is a huge fan of the
Los Angeles Dodgers. Out of what she called "necessity," Milano teamed with G-III and MLB
to create her own signature "touch" line of team-logo fashion for the female fan, which was
released for sale on-line on April 13, 2007.

end up back in the first shop and buy the item I first seen, much to
my husbands despair. LOL

The best Christmas present that would put a smile on my face would
be for a top hairdresser to come to my house and do my hair for a

I'm so excited at the thought! I decorated my tree on the 28th Nov-

Now if he is ever a bit over boisterous (chasing the cat in his baby

Winner of the Brit Award for British Female Solo Artist in 2000. Birthname is
Elizabeth Caroline Orton. Known for her "folktronica" sound, which mixes ele-
ments of folk and electronica. Was initially recognized for her collaborations
with William Orbit and the Chemical Brothers in the mid 1990sbut these were
not Orton's first recordings. Beth released a solo album, Superpinkymandy, in
1993. Since the album was only released in Japan, it went largely unnoticed by
international audiences. Her second solo album, Trailer Park, garnered much cr-
itical acclaim in 1996. With the release of the albums Central Reservation (1999)
and the 2001 UK top 10 album Daybreaker, Beth developed a devoted fan base.
On her 2006 release, Comfort of Strangers, she has moved towards a more folk-

Definitely a light shopper. My joy comes from
the smiles on peoples' faces and the camaraderie that we all
seem to share.

I love the excitement and spirit that is so thick in the air around
this time of year. The cozy of the cold, and having to get warm
indoors somewhere, sharing a soothing drink and good conversation.
The scents, the lighting, the smell of wood burning in chimneys where
it's REALLY cold. Brrrrrrr

The best gift I could imagine receiving would be acceptance. And LOTS
of closeness. The ability to see children opening their gifts first thing in
the morning, with joyful anticipation and then the BIG hugs that come
after each wrapper is spent.

My absolute favorite part about the Holiday Season, is people/family/
friends coming together, including all those who have been too far away
for too long!

Uh, yeah...and the chance to record and perform with my favorite artists!
Talk about GRAND smile!!! Mine would last for decades. Was I supposed to
choose just one thing? Geez, I'm so greedy!

I really feel that most happiness comes from the quality of our connections
with others. How we greet them, treat them and the lasting impression we
leave them with.

The Holiday Season is a time when this longing for connection comes out in
people more strongly, I think.

   Janine Turner
Born Janine Loraine Gauntt in 1962 in Lincoln, Nebraska, she grew up in Fort Worth, Texas.
A cheer leading beauty into her teens, she moved with her mother to study at New York's
Professional Children's School and was lucky enough to be picked up by the famed Wilhelm-
ina Agency as a model (at 15 she was the youngest at the time to ever be signed). After
some commercial work, however, she returned to school in Texas and happened by chance
to find some minor work on various episodes of "Dallas" (1978).
This led to a Hollywood att-
empt at age 17 and a major TV break two years later when she won the role of Laura Temp-
leton on TV's popular daytime soap "General Hospital" (1963), a role that required her long
tresses to go from brunette to blonde. This, in turn, fed into another 1980s regular part on
"Another World" (1964). Janine subsequently made her film debut in the daytime parody
Young Doctors in Love (1982) that featured her along with other soap stars in cameos. She

attend Pepperdine University but left when she earned a film role in the movie Tai-Pan (1986).
At this stage of the game, she tended to specialize in cute and flighty roles, but all that chan-
ged when Janine won the role of spunky, crop-haired Alaskan air taxi pilot Maggie O'Connell
opposite Rob Morrow on the eccentric prime-time series "Northern Exposure" (1990). She has
done many film and TV roles since. Currently she makes spot appearances here and there.

   Julianne Moore
The daughter of a military judge and a Scottish social worker, Julianne Moore was born in
Fayetteville, North Carolina on this date, 1960. She spent the early years of her life in over
two dozen locations around the world with her parents before she finally found her place at
Boston University, where she earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in acting from the
School of the Performing Arts. After graduation (in 1983), Julianne moved to New York and
worked extensively in theater, including appearances off-Broadway in two Caryl Churchill
plays, Serious Money and Ice Cream With Hot Fudge and as Ophelia in Hamlet at The Guthrie
Theatre. But despite her formal training, Julianne fell into the attractive actress' trap of the
mid-1980's: TV soaps and miniseries. She appeared briefly in the daytime serial "The Edge of
Night" and from 1985 to 1988 she played two half-sisters Frannie and Sabrina on the soap "As
the World Turns". This performance later led to an Outstanding Ingnue Daytime Emmy Awa-
rd in 1988. Her subsequent appearances were in mostly forgettable TV-movies, such as Money,
Power, Murder. (1989), The Last to Go (1991) (TV) and Cast a Deadly Spell (1991) (TV). She
made her entrance into the big screen with 1990's Tales from the Darkside: The Movie (1990),
where she played the victim of a mummy. Two years later, Julianne appeared in feature films
with supporting parts in The Hand That Rocks the Cradle (1992) and the comedy The Gun in Be-
tty Lou's Handbag (1992). She kept winning better and more powerful roles as time went on,
including a small but memorable role as Harrison Ford's colleague in The Fugitive (1993). Late in
2001, she appeared in The Shipping News (2001) with Scott Glenn. Glenn had played Jack Craw-
ford in The Silence of the Lambs (1991). Moore appeared in the sequel, Hannibal (2001). Appears
in Boogie Nights (1997), The Big Lebowski (1998) and Magnolia (1999) with Philip Seymour Hoff-
man. Both of them have played characters in the Hannibal Lecter series. Moore played Clarice
Starling in Hannibal (2001).In 2003, when she was nominated for two Oscars, she was in comp-

I am a moderate shopper. What I really want
for Christmas is intangible.

I want everyone to do an act of kindness for another person
regardless of what it will 'cost' them.

Give someone your spare change. Change someones flat tire.

Help someone with groceries. If you overhear someone in the
store say 'they can't afford' something then get it for them.

Prepay for someones Christmas tree. Sponsor a family for
Christmas. Donate food. Carry extra gloves & jacket in the car
and if you see someone cold on a streetcorner cold then give it to
them.

I enjoy bringing a homeless person to a restaraunt to get food and
sitting with them till they are full.

I really hurt when I see how people treat others. Everybody is equal.
I love to see people happy and treated well.

What I really want for Christmas is for everyone to spread goodwill
and cheer.
