Katherine Kassatte

Director and model. Born Katherine Courtney Brenner in 1980 in Paterson,
New Jersey. She has simian lines on both her hands. These lines are extremely
rare. In the middle ages those who had these lines were killed because it was
supposed to be the sign of a witch. Katherine's trademark is her highly defined
cheek-bones. She's created 4 commercials for BBC television and a Documentary
on the London Underground. Has appeared in two Gap commercials.  She has wr-
itten a book called "The Last Leaf of Fall" in 2004. Personal quote (IMDb);
"I like
people that are worldly and evoke thought. I don't need you to be Mensa, but a
certain requiem of stimuli would be lovely. People that are real, even if they're
real assholes. Nothing turns me off more than the fake or needy. People who bask
in the glow of their own imperfections, are comfortable in their own skin and don't
feel the need to impress. People that want to become better people because it's in
them and not because of outside influence. Nothing is sexier than a brilliant mind
sailing focally at it's own leisure. And nipple piercings."

Hey Jonathan! As I've gotten older finding time
for things seems harder, the days seem to speed by without
actually having enough time in them to do whats required that
day! This is strange because I would have thought you'd have
more time as you get older.
With age comes the responsibilities
that I never bothered about before, things like, bills, jobs, rel-
ationships etc.
You can't be a free spirit when you have to be
responsible for both yourself and your partners future!
Gone are
my weekend long stints of drugs and drink and partying til the sun
came up in fields full of mad hippies and ravers, worshipping the
night and the music until the sun rose and then only the impending
doom of Monday morning and work could bring you back down to
earth with a horrid bang!

I honestly don't think there is anything I would say "I'll never do that
again". I've made mistakes like everyone but you learn from them
and move on. Sometimes you make the same ones over and over in
your life but that's life, isn't it? Working out where the puzzle pieces go.

Finally for the last bit of the question.
I'd like to write a book someday and I'd like to truly believe in myself.
(one day)

Phoenix Arizona

Well, I make sure I tell my loved ones I love
them every day. I make sure I laugh, really good at least one
time every day. I dance in my car and I don't care who's looking
or what they are saying. I am learning to like who I have become,
not who I thought I would be.

I would not be so careful. I wouldn't give so much power to people
who I never met. I would pay more attention to compliments and
remember peoples names. I would take all the chances I should

I want to go parasailing! (Can't you see this ghost up in the sky,
glowing in broad daylight? lol) I want to do this before the year is
I would also like to snorkel in Australlia and boogie board in
I want to spend a week in Napa and then a week in Spain.
I want to go to NYC.

Long Beach California

When people show me "who they are"
I BELIEVE THEM THE FIRST TIME! I either accept them or
move on. This applies to my relationships with men mostly,
but girls/friends too.

I will NEVER get in credit card debt EVER AGAIN!!!

I would like to change careers, acting or something, also jump
outta a perfectly good airplane!!

It takes me near on a whole week to
recover from a night out nowadays. I used to go to work,
then head straight to the pub...party all night. Leave the
party and go to work from there.

Don't think I'll ever be able to do that again. Well not keep
a smile on me face at the same time that is. :)

I've always wanted to meet Alice Cooper. Who knows..one day.
I'm sure people want stranger things...it's not an impossability
is it??

Boy, this is a loaded question! Let's see...I am
now 38-years old, and have made plenty of mistakes! I think
the one thing that I do now that I didn't before when I was
younger is think twice before I did something! Oh, I didn't
listen very well either!

I will never be as trusting of people. Been burned too many

I have finally found the love of my life, with no strings or regrets!
I want to travel and see the world with him!

Stand upon a playground much larger

Never do again? GET MARRIED!!!

I act like my mom and that really scares me.
I find myself saying some of the same things she did.

You're digging deep this week Jonathan.

As I get older, I am kinder to myself and I no longer view
being human as a character flaw.

I will never get married again.

I've never been to London and I've always wanted to go.

Do differently than before, is be
myself, not be wot others expect.

Conform to how society expects so I fit in.
I fit in anyway.

Wot I never done, but would like to. Be a man for a day.

Since turning "the dirty 30," I've found that
naps are required before a long night out. Gone are the
21 year-old days of staying up all night drinking and then
going to work (still drunk) in the morning. As I get older,
I find it's either "pace yourself" or "poop out on the party."

Hard drugs.

I'd still like to skydive someday.

Well, what I do differently now than before
is actually work at stuff I care about.

What I will never do again is fall victim to those who are
out to get me.

And, what I want to do that I have never done is go on tour
with Joan Jett.

   Carly Simon
She was born in 1945, and raised in the Riverdale section of New York City with
two sisters and a brother. Her father, Richard Simon, played Chopin and Beeth-
oven on the piano. She attended so many Brooklyn Dodgers games with her fa-
ther that she was made a team mascot before they moved to Los Angeles she
once said if she could see herself, it would be Pee Wee Reese. A shortstop is not
quite in the infield and not quite in in the outfield. Three of her uncles gained dis-
tinction in various fields of music. George, as an authority on Jazz, Henry, as a
Musicologist and book editor and Alfred as the music director of a classical radio
Carly burst onto the music scene in 1971 with her first Top 10 hit "That's
The Way I've Always Heard It Should Be," which won her the Best New Artist Gra-
mmy Award and set the stage for an enormously successful career. After her sec-
ond hit, "Anticipation," Carly roared to the top of the charts with her album NO
SECRETS, and its #1 hit "You're So Vain." Newly married to James Taylor, Carly
piled up a series of bestselling albums, including PLAYING POSSUM (1975), which
featured controversial cover art of a scantily-clad Carly, although there had always
been a sort of subtle sexuality on many of her album covers before (and after); how-
ever, none were as blatant as this particular one. Carly's album THE BEDROOM Tapes
(2000) reflected her personal trials more overtly than any of her other albums up to
that point, particularly a case of writer's block as well as her breast cancer ordeal and
the accompanying depression she experienced due to chemotherapy. Nevertheless,
Carly is now healthy and content and remains a notable presence in the media and
music industry, including her cameo on Janet Jackson's "Son of a Gun," as well as the
televised tribute to Beach Boy Brian Wilson. Her daughter Sally is expecting her first
grandchild in September 2007.

Never regret anything.

Jonathan...I still am a child at heart so not a whole
lot has changed! :-)

I wanted to have a successful life in the music business....and I was
able to do that!! I have seen and done ALOT already.

I don't have many regrets...I do now know a lot more about men and
will never let them get me upset as most the time they don't even know
what they're doing...haha.

My biggest thing now is not being afraid to say what needs to be said
and to look out for what's best for me - not just with men...but people
in general. It's ok to give a person benefit of the doubt but always keep
in the back of your mind that they may let you down...not everyone has
an honest agenda.

I love being 40, single and never married...it's liberating...while not
being a selfish person...I have learned to voice my opinion in a way
that doesn't put a person on the defensive. At same time, it gets com-
munication going and if they can't handle that...then more than likely
it's a person who isn't someone I'd really want to be around in first place.

Things I have not done but would like to? geez....do you have space big
enough to list that here? Personally I do hope to find a great companion
and experience giving the miracle of life at least once....I need to get
some traveling in. I'd like to go to Italy - sight see on land and then rent
a yacht for a few days on Lake Cuomo before crusing along the French
Riviera. Stop at Cannes and Monaco. Then go back to Europe...check out
Vienna where there's so much history of music and culture as well as
exploring old buildings and castles there, Paris, UK and Ireland.

Cat Albany New York

I've dropped the ever present anxiety. I've rid myself
of the voices saying,  "You can't do that! What-are-you-stupid-or-
what?" I've learned to go for what I want. If not now, when? If I
make a fool out of myself, at least someone had a good laugh.

I try to treat everyone I meet fairly, and with kindness. It's not that
I was an asshole when I was a teenager -- far from it. But I was
paralyzed by shyness and fear and barely spoke! Well, that's certainly
I've learned to straighten my hair, somewhat. I've learned
that I hate most kinds of cheese and there's no use trying any more.

Acid. Roller Disco. (Silver Spur Elementary champ, yo!) Driving to San
Pedro naked. Playing drums in a Satan worshiping band. Hey, I didn't
know till six months in!

Travel the world. Make lots of money (that would be neat). Donate
lots of money. Adopt more shelter cats. Take the Darwin and Cat Radio
Show to a bigger market. Find a cheese that I like.

United Kingdom

I agree here with Star (below), I live. I do as much
as I can. This life is too short to waste.
I still at my age make
very silly mistakes, but live and learn.
I don't want to grow old
regretting what I didn't do...such and such.

What will I never do again? Get totally drunk so that I miss the
one beautiful moment I wanted to remember.

And, as far as never get done but would like too, I got my tattoo.
I never ever thought I'd actually do it. My next biggy is going to
be a face lift. I want to at some point in my life be beautiful. I
know that's a selfish answer.

   Meryl Streep
Considered by many movie reviewers to be the greatest living film actress, Meryl has
been nominated for the Academy Award an astonishing 14 times, and has won it twice.
Born Mary Louise Streep in 1949 in Summit, New Jersey, Meryl's early performing am-
bitions leaned toward the opera. She became interested in acting while a student at
Vassar and upon graduation she enrolled in the Yale School of Drama. She gave an out-
standing performance in her first film role, Julia (1977), and the next year she was nom-
inated for her first Oscar for her role in The Deer Hunter (1978). She went on to win the
Academy Award for her performances in Kramer vs. Kramer (1979) and Sophie's Choice
(1982), in which she gave a heart-wrenching portrayal of an inmate mother in a Nazi
death camp.
Her father was a drug company exec; her mother, an artist-turned-housewife
who kept an art studio behind the house. Her father loved to play the piano and her mother
to sing. Meryl was given singing lessons at a young age. Her mother died in 2001 and her
father in 2004. Son Henry Gummer is an actor, filmmaker and co-founder of a rock band.
Daughter Mary Willa, whose stage name is Mamie Gummer, is an off-Broadway actress.
Sold her New York City townhouse for $9.1 million in February 2006. She was forced to sl-
ash the asking price for the eight-bedroom Manhattan property from $12 million to secure
a sale. Streep bought the house for $2.2 million in 1995, according to the New York Post.
The longest she has gone without an Oscar nomination is five years, between Postcards
from the Edge (1990) and The Bridges of Madison County (1995). She was nominated for
the inaugural 2007 New Jersey Hall of Fame for her services to drama, film, and television.
Donated her wardrobe from The Devil Wears Prada to a charity auction. Drives a Toyota
Prius. Robert De Niro said she is his favorite actress to work with.

   Juliette Lewis
Juliette is recognized as one of Hollywood's most talented and versatile actors of her
generation.  She was born in Los Angeles in 1973. She first stunned mass audiences
and critics alike with her Oscar-nominated performance as 'Danielle Bowden' in Cape
Fear (1991). To date, she has worked with some of the most revered directors in the
industry: Martin Scorsese, Woody Allen, Lasse Hallstrm, Oliver Stone, and Garry Ma-
rshall. Dropped out of high school just three weeks after starting.
Arrested for being
underage in an underground dance club at age 16. The arresting officer, who recogn-
ized her dad when he picked her up at the station, gave Juliette her mug shot (those
charges were dropped), which now hangs, poster-size, in her home. Played a suicidal
mental patient in the music video for the Melissa Etheridge song "Come to my Window."
Lewis' erratic behavior frightened the director to the point where he yelled "Cut!" se-
veral unnecessary times for fear that Lewis had truly suffered a mental/emotional br-
eakdown. Fronts a rock band called "Juliette and the Licks" which toured on Van's Wa-
rped Tour in 2004. Posed for a portrait in US Magazine, by Peggy Sirota, which featured
nothing but an extreme close-up of the soles of her bare feet. Ranked #7 on Tropopkin's
Top 25 Most Intriguing People (Issue #100). Chosen by Empire magazine as one of the
100 Sexiest Stars in film history at #75 in 1995.
Some of Lewis's credits include the Nora
Ephron comedy Mixed Nuts (1994) with Steve Martin and Adam Sandler; the sci-fi action
film Strange Days (1995) with Ralph Fiennes and Angela Bassett; and Quentin Tarantino's
vampire tale From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) with George Clooney. In 1996, Lewis appeared as
Shirley MacLaine's granddaughter in The Evening Star (1996). She went on to star in the
independent film Some Girl (1998), with Michael Rapaport and Giovanni Ribisi, and the thri-
ller The 4th Floor (1999) with William Hurt. Lewis was married in 1999 to professional skate
boarder Stephen Berra but has been divorced since 2005.

Hi Jonathan. I now do my household chores in
the morning, which leaves me the rest of the day do spend
time with my daughter Abigail and go back to horse riding.
Enjoy the time I have and make the most of the life, but most
importantly never take life for granted.

I would never buy another motorcycle. Regardless of how good
you may be, some people just dont look out for them as I found
out rather abruptly, having been left disabled after a serious
motorcycle accident 9 years ago.

I dont know if this counts but there are two things which have not
yet happened that I would love to do and am only weeks away from
doing, the first being recognised as an Avian behaviourist, I have
been invited as a guest speaker to do a talk and discuss companion
parrot behaviour in the home. The second being to compete as a
disabled rider in showjumping and dressage which will take place
in July.

This should be easy, Jonathan!

I put my pants on differently. They're tighter. I have to...it sucks.

I will never rob a convenience store for a six pack of beer...never
...never. I learned my lesson. (Seattle '86)

I have never been to New York. I have dreams about New York. Ever
since I was a child...I have dreamed that I lived there...I miss it. A
piece of my soul is there for some odd reason.

Oh, I know...my favorite band...always rocked about NY...that's why:

"Don't you know the crime rate is going up, up, up, up, up
To live in this town you must be tough, tough, tough, tough, tough!
You got rats on the west side
Bed bugs uptown
What a mess this towns in tatters I've been shattered
My brains been battered, splattered all over Manhattan"

-The Stones

Oh...and this band too!

"New York's alright if you like drunks in your doorway!
New York's alright if you wanna freeze to death!
New York's alright if you wanna get mugged or murdered!
New York's alright if you like saxophones!"

   Nicole Kidman
Elegant redhead Nicole, known as one of Hollywood's top Australian imports, was
actually born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1967 to Anthony (a biochemist and clinical psy-
chologist) and Janelle (a nursing instructor) Kidman.
Her family moved almost im-
mediately to Washington, D.C., where Nicole's father pursued his research on breast
cancer, then, three years later, made the pilgrimage to her parents' native Sydney.
Young Nicole's first love was ballet, but she eventually took up mime and drama as
well (her first stage role was a bleating sheep in an elementary school Christmas
She broke into movies at age 16, landing a role in the Australian holiday
favorite Bush Christmas (1983). That appearance touched off a flurry of film and TV
offers, including a lead in BMX Bandits (1983) and a turn as a schoolgirl-turned-prot-
ester in the miniseries "Vietnam" (1987) (mini) (for which she won her first Australian
Film Institute Award). With the help of an American agent, she eventually made her
US debut opposite Sam Neill in the at-sea thriller Dead Calm (1989).
Kidman's next
casting coup scored her more than exposure. While starring as Tom Cruise's doctor/
love interest in the racetrack romance Days of Thunder (1990), she won him over hook,
line, and sinker. After a whirlwind courtship (and decent box office returns), the couple
wed on December 24, 1990. Well documented, they are divorced and onto others. Ran-
ked #31 in Premiere's 2003 annual Power 100 List. Had ranked #83 in 2002. First Aust-
ralian actress to win the Best Actress Academy Award. In August 2004, Australian bus-
iness magazine Business Review Weekly listed Kidman as the richest Australian woman
under age 40, estimated at a worth of 155 million Australian dollars. She turns 40 today.
She was awarded the Companion of the Order of Australia, which is Australia's top civil
honour, at a ceremony in Canberra. She was honoured for her contribution to cinema as
well as her charity work with women, children and cancer research in April of this year.

   Paula Abdul
One of three judges on the wildly successful hit show American Idol. Paula was born
in 1962 in the San Fernando Valley, California.
She began taking dance lessons when
she was eight. She attended Van Nuys High School, where she was senior class pres-
ident and head cheerleader. After graduating in 1980, she started college at Cal State
-Northridge, majoring in TV and radio. After joining the L.A. Lakers cheerleaders, she
became head cheerleader/choreographer after only a few months, eventually drop-
ping out of college to dance and choreograph full-time. She was recruited by The Jack-
sons to choreograph their 1984 "Torture" video, the first in a long list of videos and mo-
vies she would choreograph. She branched out into singing with her first CD, "Forever
Your Girl", which had lackluster sales until the single "Straight Up" exploded onto the

As you get older, what do you now do differently than before?

What will you never do again?

And, what have you never done, but would like to?

Think and act more cautiously, and

Travel the world!

United Kingdom

I drink water after a big night out and
never get a hangover.

What ever I say here, I will prob do again anyway.

I would like to travel more.

I think before I act.

Actually, I've learned from every mistake so I mostly
wouldn't change a thing. Though I suppose if I could do
it all over I wouldn't wait so long to start saving money.
In my younger days I wasn't great at managing money.
If I had been, I'd have more of it now!

I'd like to have a job on TV someday. And I would love to
meet Robert Plant, Bono and Barack Obama. Preferably
all at once over a nice dinner at my house.

Hi Jonathan. Hmmmm , this one makes me
really have to think!!

Hmmm, I think one thing I do differently is accept things for the
way they are- and I don't get as sad and disappointed when things
don't work out the way I think they should. Maybe, the serenity
prayer really means something to me now.

Well...I plead the 5th on that one. lol
No- I will give you one thing I won't do again, and that is-

Well that is the easiest one to answer -- I have never been a ROCKSTAR,
and still to this day even being as old as I am, I would still like to do that. :)

Thanks-- these questions of the week are always sooo fun!! :)

   Courteney Cox
Courteney was born in 1964 in Birmingham, Alabama into an affluent Southern family.
Her father Richard L Cox (1930-2001) was a business man married to her mother Court-
eney. She was the baby of the family with two older sisters (Virginia and Dottie) and an
older brother Richard Jnr. She was raised in an exclusive society town, Mountain Brook,
Alabama. Courteney was the archetypal Daddy's girl, and therefore was understandably
devastated when, in 1974 her parents divorced, and her father moved to Florida. In her
final year of College she began modeling.
While modelling, she attended acting classes,
as her real dream and ambition was to be an actress. In 1984, she landed herself a small
part in one episode of "As the World Turns" (1956) as a young debutante named Bunny.
Her first big break, however, was being cast by Brian De Palma in the infamous Bruce
Springsteen video "Dancing in The Dark". In 1985, she moved to LA to star alongside Dean
Paul Martin in "Misfits of Science" (1985). It was a flop, but a few years later, she was ch-
osen out of thousands of hopefuls to play Michael J. Fox's girlfriend, psychology major
Lauren Miller in "Family Ties" (1982). Had a six-year relationship with actor Michael Keaton
from 1989-1995.
In 1984 she worked at F.B.I. (Frontier Booking International) a concert
booking agency in New York run by Ian Copeland (brother of Stewart Copeland of the Police)
and a relative of hers.
Was voted "9th sexiest woman in the world" by readers of FHM in 1997
and 1998. Was named the "Hottest Babe" by Playboy magazine in 1995. Voted the 18th "Sex-
iest Woman in the World" by Stuff magazine (2002). Has her own lipstick called "Cece" by Cargo.
On "Friends" (1994), she played a character whose last name is Geller, and her husband played
Robert Geller in Never Been Kissed (1999). She is married to David Arquette since June, 1999,
and they have a daughter. She is one of five actors - along with David Arquette, Neve Campbell,
Jamie Kennedy and Liev Schreiber - to appear in all three "Scream" films.

   Siobhan Donaghy
Siobhan was born in London, England on this day in 1983. She was born of Irish decent
and has been performing since she was 12 years old.  Was discovered by ex-All Saints
manager Ron Tom, who went on to manage the Sugababes. At the age of 16 she joined
now ex-bandmates Keisha Buchanan and Mutya Buena to form the chart topping Suga-
babes and has had a lot of success with hits such as "Overload" and "Run For Cover",
taken from the 2001 album "One Touch". Siobhan split from the band in August 2001
due to artistic differences, personality differences and alienation in the group. Siobhan
suffered from depression not long after that and then decided that she would have to
start her own career away from the Sugababes. She started writing music along with
the help of former producer Cameron McVey to help overcome her depression, and be-
gan performing under the alias of "Shanghi Nobody". She released her first single, "Ov-
errated", in June 2003 and then "Twist Of Fate" in September 2003, both taken from
the album, "Revolution In Me". Put her in the "where are they now" catagory.

Jarnette Olsen. They are fraternal twins. They have an older brother named Trent and a
younger sister named Lizzie. Their parents have since separated and their dad remarried.
They have a step-brother Jake and a step-sister Taylor. Their step-mom is Mackenzie.

Sure enough they got the part. They played on the show 'till they were 9 years old. The show
went off the air and people thought this was the end of their career. They had other ideas.
Mary Kate and Ashley got together with their lawyer/manager and formed a company called
Dualstar. Since then they have made way over 13 movies, put out 169 books, and have 5 TV
shows. They are hoping to make many more movies in their time. When they turned 16 their

They have a line of
clothing that is sold at Wal-Mart. Were ranked #3 in VH1's list of the "100 Greatest Kid Stars".

ranked #37 on the Maxim magazine Hot 100 of 2007 list. (She was listed alone, her sister Mary

   Rebbeca Holden
Not a household name, but nonetheless, Rebecca was born on this day in 1958, in
Dallas, Texas.
She is a talented singer, actress and entertainer. This lovely Texan
started her music education at the University of North Texas, majoring in voice and
piano, and then moved to New York City to continue her studies. While in New York,
a talent agency spotted her and made her a Breck girl. Rebecca would appear on
magazine covers, do some commercials, and then she headed for Hollywood. In 1980,
she had her first appearance on a sitcom, she played "Twinkie" in the wildly popular
"Three's Company" (1977). The following year, she would again have a small but mem-
orable part as "the Cheerleader who Dropped her Baton" in "Barney Miller" (1975). This
led to her most famous role as April Curtis, the computer whiz in "Knight Rider" (1982),
which is in syndication in the U.S. and 92 foreign countries. After the 1980s, she stopped
appearing in TV shows and concentrated on her singing career. She has appeared in a few
movies, but since 1992, her main focus has been performing before live audiences. She
has toured internationally, and worked tirelessly for charitable causes such as "Toys for
Tots" and "Feed the Children" and the Special Olympics. She is truly a wonderful combin-
ation of beauty and brains, and a very loving person. She is still doing music and other
projects today.

   Jenine Mayring
Born in Brooklyn in 1973 and raised in the Big Apple, Jenine got her first big break
at the Mayring dinner table and has been performing ever since. Her genetic destiny
was determined long ago anyway by distant relative Johannes Brahms. She had no
choice but to make her way into the performing arts (you know how it is with family
businesses). Jenine is a two-time music award winner for her work as a singer and
dancer (she's got a helluva set of lungs) with The John Pieplow Band (The Rockies,
Best Solo Artist 2003 and Best Alternative Band 2004). Pulitzer-nominated director
John Pieplow (Red River Rats) is widely known as the director of the hit international
cult film StrangeLand, starring Elizabeth Pena and released by Artisan.
Jenine's love
of cars took her on a cross-country adventure as a spokesperson for Lexus, the luxury
division of Toyota. Impressed by her work, they hired her for two commercials. Jenine
has worked for other top companies including Mattel, Panasonic, Mercedes Benz, Audi,
and Samsung. She is the voice for PulverRadio.com. Jenine is a citizen of both the U.S.A.
and Germany.
In addition to being good with her hands, Jenine's a true action/adventure
chick at heart. She's tackled everything from jumping out of a plane to snowboarding to
running marathons. Jenine completed the 2001 Honolulu Marathon, the 2004 New Orleans
Mardi Gras Marathon, and the 2005 Dublin Marathon - all while raising over $10,000 for AIDS
Project Los Angeles. She is currently training for the 2006 NYC Marathon.

    Bonnie Tyler
Born today in 1951 in Skewen, Neath, Wales. She first came to prominence in 1976
with the song, "Lost in France", which made the UK top 10. Following a throat oper-
ation, she inadvertently developed her distinct singing voice. She had a transatlantic
top 5 hit with "It's a Heartache" in 1978. She hit the big time when she became the
first Welsh singer to have a transatlantic #1 hit with Jim Steinman's "Total Eclipse of
the Heart" (1983), for which she was Grammy nominated. The accompanying album
"Faster than the Speed of Light" also entered the UK Album chart at #1. Bonnie has
found it hard to repeat the success, but recorded "Holding Out for a Hero" (US #34/
UK #2) in 1985 from the 'Footloose' soundtrack. In 2004 she recorded the Total Ec-
lipse song in French, and it went to #1 in France! She remains active in the music ind-
ustry having toured all over the world, including with the singer Meatloaf, and perform-

    Laurie Anderson
Who could forget "Oh Superman"? The musician was born in 1947 in Glen Ellyn,
Illinois. Began career as a performance artist in the late 1960s, began recording
in the late 1970s. Rose to popularity in early 1980s when 8-minute single, "O Su-
perman" made it to No. 2 on the British pop charts. Early magnum opus was the
two-night extravaganza "United States Parts I-IV" in 1983. Put out "Life on A St-
ring" released in 2001. Laurie continues touring and being an active figure in the
art world. Her trademark is her short spiky hair. Married to rocker Lou Reed. Once
worked as an art critic for magazines such as Artforum. One of her sculptures was
a tape player with a musical tape loop, imbedded into a large table covered with
rubber with notches cut into it. The only way to hear the music was to sit at the
table, place your elbows into the notches, and cover your ears with your hands.
Worked alongside Andy Kaufman for a time in the 1970s, acting as a sort of 'straight
woman' during his stand-up routines. Possibly romantically linked with him as well
(implied by the spoken word recording "Ugly One With the Jewels" in which she talks
about him). Ranked #86 on VH1's 100 Greatest Women of Rock N Roll.
